Music teacher seminar
Music teacher seminars are held twice a year for instrumental and classroom music teachers across the region and beyond. In 2023, these will be held on:
- Friday 20 January – at the Old Museum Building
- Friday 1 September – venue to be confirmed closer to the date.
Curriculum roadshows
There are 3 curriculum roadshows available to attend. The link to register for these and more detailed date information can be found on the Music Resource Centre (MRC) SharePoint site, or contact the MRC for more information.

Note: Day 1 and day 2 are not intended to be completed on consecutive days. They are meant to be completed with at least 1 term in between.
First aid training
A first aid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and full first aid course, at MRC, will run on:
- Wednesday 29 March 2023—9.00am–1.30pm
- Monday 4 December 2023—9.00am–1.30pm.
Staff wishing to attend these sessions need to seek approval from their principal, including the cost, which will be invoiced to your base school via Everton Park State High School for the amount – $99 for the full day and $65 for the CPR-only course. Please seek approval and then register online via the survey link on SharePoint. Participants will be expected to complete an online portion before attending.
Mandatory training modules
Mandatory training modules can be completed online through the learning place. These will no longer be run by the MRC.
Twilight professional development
The MRC offers Twilight professional development sessions each term. Twilights run from 3.30–5.00pm and are held at MRC and online in a hybrid style for most sessions, unless otherwise stated. You can find information about what sessions are available and register for these twilights via the MRC SharePoint site.
Sessions will be promoted as they become available.
Professional development requirements
All teachers, including Instrumental Music teachers and instructors, are required to do a minimum amount of professional development each calendar year to maintain teacher registration and demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development. The Queensland College of Teachers (QCOT) has outlined these requirements in their
Renewal of teacher registration page.
With the introduction of flexible staff professional development days, there is also a requirement for teachers to complete a number of professional development hours outside of rostered duty time. For further information on this, please access the
